10-Year-Anniversary
In March we are celebrating our 10th anniversary of providing pest control services in Northeast Ohio. I have 29 years in the pest control industry and to say things have changed would be an understatement.
Up until the mid-nineties the only way you could treat termites was to perform a conventional liquid barrier around the home to try and keep termites from entering a structure. Long gone are the days of Chlordane and many of the chemicals that the industry had used for over 50 years. These new materials had limitations, and every company had a handful of accounts that needed re-treated each year. In 1996 a new product called Sentricon hit the market and was the first baiting system that could kill the entire termite colony. At the same time, Fipronil was born and was an ingredient in a liquid termiticide that would kill termite colonies by way of the transfer effect. To say that year was a game changer for our industry is an understatement!
Fast forward to 2010 and bed bugs made their appearance once again. From the 1950’s through the late 1990’s the only discussion about bed bugs was stories that technicians that worked in the industry 50 years earlier would tell. And when the problem became very serious, new products arrived on the market to help deal with this problem. Heat treatments, multiple liquid applications, dog trained detection services all became common place in the bed bug world. I remember hearing stories about bed bugs back in the mid 90’s and thinking to myself “I am glad I missed that era of the pest control industry”. So much for thinking that way – bed bugs are a weekly occurrence.
So, a lot of things have changed over the years, but a few things have stayed the same.
- • Customers want to deal with someone they can trust to do the job right.
- • They want a problem solved fast and at a fair price.
- • They want to deal with a company that has a guarantee on the work provided that ensures their satisfaction.
- • They prefer to deal with a local business so they can deal with someone one-on-one - not someone from a call center in another state.
Prevention Pest Control is that type of company and we strive to be the best each day. Do we have days when we could do better? Sure we do, but you have my word that we never shy away from a difficult situation and I am always hands on in solving any issue that arises. Thank you for 10 great years of servicing Northeast Ohio and I look forward to the next 10 with as much passion as I did with the first.
